Beijing Cancer Sufferers’World Club, founded in the January of 2003 on No.11, Ande Road, Beijing, is mainly sponsored by Beijing Zhongbeiweike Cancer Medical Institute with Chinese Anti-Cancer Net as its partner.. Liu Wenhua, the Secretary-General of China TCM Anti-Cancer Academy, the president of Zhongbeiweike Cancer Medical Institute, assumes the Secretary-General of this club; Tian Jingfu, the former Director-General of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the PRC is appointed as the general consultant; and Qian Xinzhong, the former minister of the Ministry of Health of the PRC writes an inscription for this club——work in unity and help one another, advocate science and combat cancer with a joint effort.
For 4 years since its establishment, Beijing Cancer Sufferers’ World Club has adhered to the principle, which is connoted in the inscription, by alleviating patients’ agony both physically and mentally and helping to re-establish the goal for life. Now under the support of different units, this club has already collected a large amount of anti-cancer medicine and cash with a worth of 2 million RMB, and it has become a “warm house” of many cancer sufferers.
From their long experience in diagnosis and treatment, the specialists of Beijing Zhongbeiweike Cancer Medical Institute have come to realize that good doctors, efficient medicines and advanced equipment are important but still not enough. Rather, a sound living environment, a necessary understanding of the medical science, psychology and humanity are also indispensable, because it is our goal to cure both physically and mentally and these factors can be connected as a comprehensive treatment chain, which is able to facilitate a better treatment of cancer. Following this logic, the first domestic club for cancer sufferers emerges as the times require.
Beijing Cancer Sufferers’ World Club provides a neat environment for the cancer sufferers to communicate and to carry out different kinds of activities. Some 5000 books on cancer treatment are also available for free reading. Many people first come to have a shot at it, but soon they find that they are feeling at home here. Leaded by five pilots, Beijing Cancer Sufferers’World Club has developed into a large organization with over 1500 members. Most cancer sufferers had had a drooping sprits before they joined the club, with no confidence or having no fun in life; while the sound communicative environment provided by club helps to ease their mental stress, and enrich their knowledge base on healthy life and cancer.
